Plumbing in Dallas

Effective June 1, 2026, Dallas requires residential plumbing rough inspections (below floor, below grade, top out) to be requested together with the mechanical rough inspections, on the same day. Plumbing and mechanical finals, the Customer Service inspection included, have to be scheduled together too. The Building Inspection page blames staffing shortages among plumbing and mechanical inspectors. Everything runs through the DallasNow portal. The city lists a plumbing permit form, a separate one for plumbing without a license, and a Plumbing Contractor and Medical Gas Registration form.

There's no plumbing fee table beside those forms, but a Permit Fee Estimate Calculator sits with them. DWU's 2025 Water Quality Report says its service line inventory contains no known lead service lines. It doesn't print a hardness figure, so ask Dallas Water Utilities if you're pricing a softener. In EPA's drinking water data, Dallas Water Utility (PWSID TX0570004) is attached to the city only by an operator address match and serves 1,356,479 people across its system.

The median Dallas home was built in 1981 (ACS, 2020 to 2024). All building permit applications are submitted at the Oak Cliff Municipal Center, 320 E. Jefferson Blvd, Room 118, Dallas, TX 75203, 214-948-4480. The Northeast office is at 11910 Greenville Ave. Suite 100, 214-670-7278, and the Northwest office at 7610 N Stemmons #190, 214-671-0720.

What plumbing costs near Dallas

No plumber has sent us a quote from Dallas, so this page carries no city price. The Texas page lists the estimates next to what plumbers are paid ($29.22 an hour in the BLS wage data, which is pay, not price), and the permit fee is set by your city. How we estimate costs.
