Plumbing in Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale's Building Permit Fees sheet, Revision 10, dated 9/17/2026, gives master, stand-alone and trade permits each a minimum of $131 or 1.75 percent of construction cost. Plumbing has no line of its own. A plumbing permit falls under the trade category, and the state add-ons the sheet prints are 1 percent for DBPR and 1.5 percent for BCAI, each with a $2 minimum, applied to total permit fees. Applications and payments go through LauderBuild, the city's online portal, and the Permit Solutions Team answers at 954-828-3160.

Under House Bill 803, effective July 1, 2026, initial permit fees are paid at submittal. More may be assessed during review. That law exempts single-family work valued under $7,500 from a building permit, but plumbing is excluded. A city roof checklist and the floodplain page both point to the Florida Building Code, 8th Edition. Fort Lauderdale's 2025 Water Quality Report names the Biscayne Aquifer as the sole source. Water goes to Fiveash, a lime softening plant, or to Peele-Dixie, a nanofiltration membrane plant, and is disinfected with chloramines.

No lead service lines are known. It says the vast majority of lines are confirmed to be PVC or copper, and it'll keep inspecting. Customer Service takes lead testing questions at 954-828-8000.
